Welcome to the home of The Balfour
Built in 1936 by Lord Balfour to look after the workers of Sidmouth. We like to enhance our atmosphere with a modern Art Deco feel that provides a superb venue to call in for a drink, go out for a lovely, freshly-prepared meal or attend a large private event but, above all, we pride ourselves in the highest standards of service.
Rain, hail or shine, The Balfour is a perfect venue with a separate bar, lounge-bar, dining and function room, snug, skittle alley, very large beer garden (much of it under cover) and children's play area with outdoor play-frame we believe that we can cater for most occasions.
Joining in
The Balfour is located in the Woolbrook area of the regency seaside town of Sidmouth around a mile from the seafront. Tourists will be welcomed, but our primary mission is to look after our friends and neighbours in Sidmouth's resident population. We're keen to be involved in the local community and intend your 'local' to be a meeting place within it, so please get in touch if you think we can help.
Finally, we are always looking for new ideas for other events but we would like to hear from you, and listen to what you would like, so why not call in and let us know what you think?
The Balfour's new menu
As we face the cold and damp autumn weather our executive chef, Richard Doran, has put together some hearty and warming dishes to put a smile on your face and a glow in your heart. Check out the new menus on our food and drink page.
All the food on the menu is cooked right here in the kitchen. Real, honest food is important, so we pride ourselves on having all our ingredients fresh and local. We promise to maintain the high standard and quality of food and hope to see you all at The Balfour for a meal soon.
